"Assess-Explore-Decide-Follow up"
The model is mainly directed to the students of high school. The student in this age needs counseling in her choice of art or science sections. She needs support in her choice of a suitable university that guides toward a suitable job.
School counselors help students develop academic and social skills and succeed in school. Career counselors assist students with the process of making career decisions by helping them develop skills or choose a career or educational program(Campbell &Raiff, 2002).
High school counselors advise students in making academic and career plans. Many help students overcome personal issues that interfere with their academic development. They help students choose classes and plan for their lives after graduation. Counselors provide information about choosing and applying for colleges, training programs, financial aid, and internships and apprenticeships. They may present career workshops to help students search and apply for jobs, write résumés, and improve their interviewing skills(Hirschi, 2009).
The model includes the following stages,
Stage 1: Assessment:

- Guide clients through making decisions about their careers, such as choosing a new profession and the type of degree to pursue
- Use aptitude and achievement assessments to help clients evaluate their interests, skills, and abilities
- Evaluate clients’ background, education, and training, to help them develop realistic goals
- Help clients learn job search skills, such as interviewing and networking
- Assist clients in locating and applying for jobs, by teaching them strategies to find openings and how to write a résumé
- Help clients select and apply for educational programs, to obtain the necessary degrees, credentials, and skills.
- Advise clients on how to resolve problems in the workplace, such as conflicts with bosses or coworkers
To summarize, we emphases in career counseling in high school level, given the challenging nature of the work world today. Our model give career counselors the opportunity to address difficulties as well as help students to develop more resilient, open attitudes. By attending to student’s personal career theory, the model remains client-centered and work from the client’s point of view in a way that helps to identify the most beneficial types of interventions. By planning to capitalize on chance and remaining comfortable with indecision, we will encourage clients to make the most of their experience and strengths. Finally, attention to interpersonal skills and resources will be important for clients. Helping them to identify ways to draw upon emotional intelligence in order to develop more effective relationships should help clients be more successful in managing their careers. Hopefully, in taking these approaches, we can help our clients to not only overcome career difficulties but become more positive and capitalize on their strengths. encourage clients to make the most of their experience and strengths.
